Geospatial Metadata
Overview:
This standard defines the DMF (DGIWG Metadata Foundation). It provides a Defence-community metadata profile for:
- datasets (e.g. DGED dataset)
- non-geographic datasets (e.g. Documents and Periodicals)
- products (e.g. an output that is conformant to a Product Specification)
- series (e.g. Town Plans)
- services (e.g. Catalogue Service for the Web (CSW))
- tiles (e.g.MGCP subregions)
- ISO 19115
- ISO 19115-1
- ISO 19115-2
- ISO 19115-3
- ISO 19139
For those new to the subject, metadata is in addition to the geospatial data. Metadata captures background information such as:
- content description
- product specification
- data source and version
- producer and distributor’s references
- scale
